In keeping with the fullfillment of our mission, the foundation has instituted an educational scholarship to assist those individuals seeking to further their expertise in the field of special education.  The award will consist of an annual scholarship of up to $5,000 to be utilized specifically for courses or activities related to the special education field of endeavor, or the pursuit of such a course of study.

In an effort to better evaluate the applicants for this scholarship, we have developed an interview process, which will consist of each viable candidate's individual meeting with three members of the Board of Directors of the Foundation.  At this interview, there will be a series of standardized questions asked by the Board Member with a numerical score for each answer.  This interview will also afford the Board Member an opportunity to get to know the applicant on a more personal level.  While we realize there is no objective method to judge those aspects of criteria we are searching for, the interview process will allow a more complete presentation of the applicant's motivation, need and committment.

Scholarship Criteria Summary

1. Motivation: self-starter; truly desires to help those with special needs.
2. Sensitivity: receptive to and concerned about individuals, and communicates that with care.
3. Personality: ability to relate with others under varied circumstances, especially understanding those who are in special need.
4. Character: integrity above reproach.
5. Demonstrated Committment: experience to date in the field of special education and specific plans to continue efforts in that direction.
6. Need: demonstrate the need for resources to carry out their committment.
